Saanich Schools offers a temporary full time Youth and Family Counsellor role within the Take a Hike program, aimed at promoting student engagement and positivity. Your mentorship will be vital to student achievement.
This temporary position covers a parental leave, approximately lasting four weeks, with a starting date that isn't confirmed but won't be before September 8, 2026. The role involves collaboration with teachers and families to bridge the gap between academic progress and emotional well-being. Your support will help create a respectful and focused learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Aid teachers in effective classroom behavior management
• Build strong relationships with students for better engagement
• Provide mentorship to help meet academic and social-emotional needs
• Collaborate with the program teacher and Mental Health Counsellor
• Reinforce positive behaviors in classroom settings
Requirements:
• Experience in youth counseling or education roles
• Strong communication and mentorship skills
• Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively
• Passion for student support and development
• Availability until at least October 5, 2026
