Job Overview:
The Component Engineer / CAD Librarian serves as a critical link between Engineering and Manufacturing, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and standardization of CAD library data used throughout product lifecycle.
What The Job Is All About:
Create, maintain, and validate schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models in accordance with company standards
Develop and enforce CAD library creation and maintenance procedures
Verify library accuracy through quality checks, peer reviews, and design rule validation
Maintain component attributes and database integrity within ECAD and PLM systems
Support engineers with library requests and ensure timely creation of new component entries
Standardize naming conventions, metadata structures, and library documentation
Manage version control and release processes for CAD library assets
Work closely with PCB designers and hardware engineers to improve library usability and consistency
Investigate and resolve CAD library-related issues affecting design or manufacturing
Who You Are:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, or related discipline
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
Technical Skills
Experience with Cadence/Orcad capture, Mentor Graphics PADS Layout or equivalent required
Experience with CAM tools, AutoDesk Inventor/Mechanical design tools considered an asset
Understanding of electronic components and semiconductor technologies
Familiarity with IPC standards related to PCB footprints and land pattern design
Understanding of manufacturing processes and PCB assembly
Experience with PLM systems such as Arena, Agile
Proficiency in interpreting datasheets, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications

This role combines the strategic responsibilities of component engineering with the operational ownership of CAD library management, ensuring that product development teams have access to approved, accurate, and manufacturable component data throughout the product lifecycle.

Salary Information:
The pay range for this role in Canada is: 78,000 - 97,000 CAD

Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, knowledge, and role‑specific qualifications, and may be adjusted to recognize candidates accordingly.
