The Senior Financial Analyst works with Senior and Program Management teams to achieve and maintain effective financial management control and planning while working within the corporate accounting and control policies and procedures. As an integral member of the program teams the Senior Analyst contributes to the attainment of the programs' goals and objectives by offering recommendations and solutions to aid in the decision making process. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Skilled Accounting Designation – Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) 7 to 9 year business related experience Experience with MIS/OHRS guidelines and Ministry reporting Strong Accounting Finance and analytical skills required. Knowledge of financial systems Advanced level Microsoft Excel Access & PowerPoint as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Word. Experience in preparing budgets analyzing financial and related data to identify trends and relationships. Experience with costing models hospital utilization and clinical data Strong presentation skills and ability to develop and provide educational programs to management Proving ability to problem solve and manage projects Ability to work within changing and tight timelines Excellent communications skills Solid interpersonal skills coupled with a desire and ability to be an effective team player Responsibilities Review all financial and related data; compare operating performance to plan and prior year; prepare and report on trends and variances; provide appropriate recommendations for addressing significant issues and variances. Assists in the preparation of the Hospital Annual Planning Submission (HAPS & HSAA). Prepare and present monthly analysis and report on financial and volume operating results. Assist program management in reporting year-to-date operating results and year-end projections on a monthly basis. Assist program management in the identification and documentation of process improvement and/or cost saving opportunities and assist in the implementation of such opportunities where appropriate. Monitor and report to the programs' Vice President and their management team on the achievement of expense reduction and revenue enhancement targets. Benchmark and analyze program performance. Prepare financial and statistical component of all business cases. Responsible for timely submissions to the Ministry LHIN and other external stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of the financial and volume information within their portfolio. Coordinate the portfolio’s annual financial planning process. Identify and assess data quality and integrity improvement opportunities. Acts as a consultant to provide education to the management team on budgeting financial and volume management information sources and Ministry reporting standards (MIS/OHRS). Participates on multi-disciplinary teams and committees related to special projects.
