Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services seeks a Knowledge Keeper for Cultural Services, emphasizing traditional teachings for community children and families. Support well-being through culturally centered initiatives.
As part of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, you will play an essential role in enhancing wellness strategies through community customs and ceremonies. Collaborate with team members and uphold confidentiality in all client documents. Your expertise in Anishinaabe practices will enrich the cultural fabric of services provided to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure services are culturally relevant for families and youth
• Integrate Anishnaabe practices into Wellness Plans
• Conduct ceremonies and cultural teachings for clients
• Promote values and beliefs in group settings
• Keep accurate and secure records of client interactions
Requirements:
• Post-secondary diploma in Social Services preferable
• Minimum of three years in social service with cultural focus
• Proven experience with First Nation’s peoples and communities
• Capability to facilitate cultural ceremonies
• Ability to understand Anishinaabemowin is an asset
