True North Aero is looking for an Engineering Specialist to support the full lifecycle of aircraft modification programs, from concept design through certified, flying hardware.
The role spans mechanical and structural design, engineering analysis, aircraft certification, test planning and test equipment design, and project planning and management. As the company grows, there will be opportunities to develop into other disciplines. We're looking for someone genuinely passionate about aircraft and engineering, who wants to build broad, cross-disciplinary experience — whether that's straight out of school or a few years into their career.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Produce detailed mechanical/structural designs and 3D CAD models
Generate manufacturing and engineering drawings
Perform basic engineering analysis in support of initial sizing, in collaboration with senior engineering experts
Plan tests and design test equipment/fixtures
Support certification activities and documentation
Help maintain project schedules and track deliverables
Take on adjacent engineering tasks as the role and company evolve
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, eligible for EIT/P.Eng registration
0–5 years of relevant experience (internships and university engineering team projects count — e.g. Formula SAE, AeroDesign/Air Cargo Challenge, Baja, etc.)
Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling and generating engineering drawings
Some programming/scripting ability
Comfortable with Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of basic structural analysis and mechanical engineering fundamentals
Candidates with graduate studies are welcome, provided they've also demonstrated capability outside the classroom (internship, co-op, or team project experience)
Genuine enthusiasm for aircraft and engineering, with an interest in eventually working across multiple disciplines
WHAT WE OFFER
Full time, remote/home-based position, with occasional in-person working sessions in the Montreal area
Compensation commensurate with experience; candidates with relevant graduate studies receive additional compensation credit
