Substitute Hebrew and Jewish Studies Teacher Openings Available: Mon or Weds (Roncesvalles or Seaton Village) Tues or Thurs (Kensington Market or Wychwood) 3-6pm
Substitute staff members agree to be part of a call list and will be contacted on an as-needed basis. There is no commitment to fill any particular opening.

We seek experienced, creative, and energetic teachers for Makom Afterschool.
Responsibilities:
Teach Hebrew language and Jewish learning classes to children in JK/SK, grades 1-2,
or grades 3-5 using lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
Create and maintain a positive, welcoming, and inclusive class community
Teach through play-based and experiential modes of education
Teach Jewish values, culture, and traditions in a pluralistic, inclusive fashion
Pick up students from their public-school classrooms or transport students from
their public school to one of our afterschool sites by walking or TTC
Supervise recess and snack time
Classroom setup, clean up, and attendance taking
Qualifications:
Hebrew and English fluency
Passion for working with children
Experience with classroom teaching, lesson planning, and pedagogy
Background in Jewish studies and traditions
Solid oral and written communication skills
Commitment to children’s social and emotional development
Desire to grow and learn professionally
Reliable and responsible
Vulnerable Sector Check preferred, and required by 4th afternoon of work for Makom, and for positions involving transporting students. Makom will reimburse the cost of obtaining a VSC after four afternoons of work.
First Aid & CPR-C certification preferred.
$35/hour. Transportation duties before 3:30pm are paid at $30/hour.
