One of our key clients, an established and well-regarded law firm in the Greater Vancouver Area, is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant with strong litigation experience to join a busy practice and support a senior partner.
This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys litigation and likes being the person who keeps the files, deadlines, and day-to-day details under control.
The partner's practice is focused on civil and estate litigation, with matters ranging from wills variation, resulting trust and validity disputes, to foreclosures and general civil litigation. You'll be working across BC Supreme Court, Provincial Court, and chambers matters, so there's plenty of variety and no shortage of things to keep you on your toes.
What you'll be doing: You'll play an important role in keeping the partner's practice organized and moving forward, including:
Preparing, formatting, and revising pleadings, chambers applications, affidavits, lists of documents, and other litigation materials
Managing court filings and keeping on top of key deadlines and limitation dates
Coordinating and diarizing key dates, hearings, discoveries, applications, and other litigation milestones
Maintaining well-organized electronic and physical files throughout the life of a matter
Drafting routine correspondence and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, process servers, and court registries
Assisting with the preparation and coordination of materials for chambers and court appearances
Keeping the partner up to date on outstanding items and making sure nothing falls through the cracks
Providing general administrative support and helping keep a busy litigation practice running efficiently
What we’re looking for: 3-5 years of civil litigation experience with estate litigation experience considered a strong asset
An LAA diploma or equivalent training, along with solid litigation experience
Strong knowledge of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and court filing procedures
Experience with Supreme Court and Provincial Court matters
Excellent organizational skills and a strong eye for detail
The ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines without losing sight of the details
Confidence communicating with clients, counsel, and court registries
A proactive, independent approach - you're someone who sees what needs to be done and gets ahead of it
A calm and practical approach to a busy desk, with the ability to shift priorities when things inevitably change
