Job Summary Inspect raw material and/or parts, audit production practices and processes, and report on non-conformances. Use basic to advanced measurement instruments to complete work. May perform basic root cause analysis.
Job Description We are hiring on 2nd shift.
Inspection & Measurement Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of copper busbars, sheet metal, CNC machined parts, weldments, and assemblies.
Verify compliance with engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin/thread/bore gauges, surface plates, and optical comparators.
Measure critical dimensions, hole locations, bend angles, thickness, flatness, perpendicularity, concentricity, and profile characteristics.
Conduct visual inspections for workmanship, finish quality, plating, burrs, scratches, dents, contamination, and cosmetic defects.
Verify plating thickness, coating specifications, conductivity requirements, and material certifications.
Blueprint Reading & GD&T; Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing prints, customer specifications, and CAD models.
Apply GD&T; principles and verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, datum structures, material specifications, revision levels, and special instructions.
Develop inspection plans and determine appropriate measurement methods based on part geometry and tolerance requirements.
Sheet Metal & Busbar Inspection Inspect formed, bent, punched, laser-cut, and fabricated sheet metal components.
Verify bend dimensions, angles, formed features, hole patterns, and finished dimensions.
Apply knowledge of bend deductions, bend allowances, K-factors, material stretch/shrink, and flat pattern requirements.
Inspect copper busbars for dimensional accuracy, flatness, hole locations, edge quality, plating condition, formed features, and assembly fit.
First Article Inspection (FAI)
Conduct FAIs per customer requirements.
Create and maintain ballooned drawings and characteristic accountability records.
Verify and document all drawing dimensions, notes, specifications, and special characteristics.
Prepare complete FAI reports and coordinate corrective actions for nonconformances.
PPAP & Quality Documentation Support PPAP activities for recent product launches and customer requirements.
Assist with dimensional reports, material certifications, process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEAs, measurement system records, and capability studies.
Review PPAP submissions for accuracy and maintain quality records per customer, ISO, and company requirements.
Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement Identify, document, and contain non-conforming material; generate NCRs.
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
Monitor process performance, conduct capability studies, assist with audits, and recommend improvements to quality and manufacturing processes.
Customer & Supplier Quality Support Review supplier certifications, compliance documents, and inspection reports.
Support customer audits, quality investigations, and corrective action activities.
Ensure customer-specific requirements are incorporated into inspection and quality processes.
Required 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience inspecting copper busbars, sheet metal components, CNC machined parts, and fabricated assemblies.
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T; knowledge.
Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI),
dimensional reporting, and PPAP support.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection methodologies.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP quality systems.
Preferred ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
CMM operation/programming experience.
ISO 9001 experience.
Knowledge of metal fabrication standards.
