The Government of Yukon seeks a Legal Counsel to enhance judicial support in Whitehorse. This position requires a focus on litigation and provides significant legal advisory services.

In this permanent and full time role, you will serve as in-house counsel for the Yukon Courts, navigating complex legal terrains while supporting both the Chief Justice and Chief Judge. Your role will also involve supervising judicial assistants and collaborating on legal matters requiring a sensitive and informed approach, particularly those involving Indigenous rights and history.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal expertise to Yukon Courts
• Address complex and precedent-setting legal issues
• Supervise a team of judicial support staff




• Offer guidance on procedural matters
• Engage in independent legal research and development

Requirements:
• Proven experience in litigation and solicitor law
• Good standing with the Law Society of Yukon
• Bilingualism in English and French is preferred
• Knowledge of First Nations history and reconciliation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
