The Full Time Support Worker (SW) assists the client with their physical, vocational, recreational, social, emotional, and daily life skill development. The SW supports the client to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible.
Education & Experience:
1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in vocational & community settings (At least 6 months in Canada).
Certificate in a related human/social services Degree is preferred.
College diploma with an equivalent combination of education, experience/training in mental health, childcare, medical or nursing is also accepted
Demonstrates ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for the client.
Must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 25 lbs.
Experience in implementing positive behavior support programs in a day program setting is PREFERRED.
Must be female (The person-served is female and requires female staff)
Must be able to work with High behavioral challenges.
Able to cook Western-style meals
Skilled in active and respectful communication with the client who has support needs
Able to build trusting, respectful relationships with the client.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain interpersonal boundaries with the client.
Assist with daily living activities based on individual needs (e.g., personal care, meal preparation, community access)
Support the client in achieving personal goals and participating meaningfully in community life
Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high-quality support
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold strict confidentiality standards
Respond appropriately and professionally to behavioral, emotional, or physical support needs
Requirements:
Criminal Record Clearance
Must hold a valid BC Driver's license class 5 with no restrictions is preferred
Medical Clearance
Valid First Aid/CPR
Food Protected
WHMIS (we will train you)
Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification (we will train you)
Demonstrates competency in English
Basic computer literacy
Eligible to work in Canada

Schedule: Sunday to Wednesday OR Wednesday to Saturday Time: 8 AM-8 PM
Location: Port Coquitlam
