As a Senior Legal Counsel, Litigation, you will play a key role in protecting the interests of iA Financial Group by providing litigation expertise, legal guidance, and strategic counsel to business partners across the organization.

What you'll accomplish with us Provide litigation services and legal support directly to iA Financial Group and its subsidiaries, while managing external counsel when required
Draft pleadings, motions, mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and other legal documents
Represent the organization at court proceedings, including motions, examinations for discovery, pre-trial conferences, and mediations
Negotiate and resolve claims and disputes in a cost-effective and business-oriented manner
Provide legal opinions and strategic advice on litigation matters and broader legal issues, including legislative analysis and legal research
What could accelerate your success in this role Is known for their strong advocacy skills and deep understanding of litigation processes
Stands out for their excellent negotiation, oral, and written communication abilities
Demonstrates sound judgment and the ability to assess legal risks while balancing business objectives
Is recognized for their agility, initiative, client-service orientation, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Has a Law Degree (LLB or JD), is licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, and possesses 5 to 10 years of experience in insurance litigation or a similar role,



preferably within the life insurance or financial services industry
Is comfortable working in a continuous improvement environment and communicating complex legal concepts in plain language
Fluency in French is considered an asset

The typical hiring range for this position is between $130,000 and $180,000 CAD per year; the base salary offered may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the role.
