Boom Truck Operator - Railway
Reporting to the Track Supervisor, the Boom Truck Operator is responsible for operating railway equipment requiring specialized training. The position is based in Ontario with frequent travel.
Key Responsibilities
· Travel and work with machine on rail within the guidelines of C.R.O.R., Track Safety and Maintenance Standards, company policies and protected work practices;
· Safely inspect and perform field maintenance of equipment;
· Daily administration of logbooks and other required reports.
· Perform other duties as may be assigned when work does not require machine operation, including track inspection and other track maintenance duties;
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Ability to operate mid-sized to heavy equipment;
· Valid driver’s license of “G” classification or higher;
· Previous or current CROR qualification (preferred)/ability to obtain CROR;
· 2 years of experience operating on-off track heavy equipment in a railway (or similar) workplace;
· Operating experience with track component replacement (rail, ties etc), brush cutting, material handling, ditching activities, etc;
· Ability to read/write/speak English;
· Safety minded work ethic;
· Ability to work autonomously and adapt to different situations;
· Must be able endure repetitive physical work activities and lift and carry approximately 60lbs;
· Positive understanding in track standards and track safety requirements;
· Willingness and ability to train less experienced operators;
· Basic mechanical aptitude required;
· Safety Training and certifications;
· Available to work on various work cycles with overtime.
Hourly rate is commensurate with experience and as per CBA, and ranges between $41.00 CAD - $46.00 CAD
Pay: $41.00-$46.00 per hour
