Support the Vancouver Island YMCA-YWCA as a full time Facility Maintenance Specialist, focused on equipment maintenance and ensuring safety in community facilities. Your hands-on role strengthens the community.
This permanent position involves a tight schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, reporting directly to the Facilities Maintenance Manager. You will ensure facilities like pools and fitness areas comply with safety standards while also managing emergency repairs and liaising with external service providers. Your role requires excellent customer interaction, making responsiveness crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out scheduled maintenance and repairs for the facility
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of pool areas and equipment
• Use computerized systems for facility management
• Respond to maintenance requests from staff and members
• Handle emergencies according to safety policies
Requirements:
• Relevant mechanical or building trades certificate
• Pool operation certifications or willingness to obtain
• Communication skills for effective interactions
• WHMIS and CPR certifications required
• Successful Police background check required
