AVI Health & Community Services seeks a Peer Coordinator in Nanaimo, BC, to lead harm reduction efforts and community engagement. Use your lived experience to drive peer-led initiatives.
In this essential contract role, the Peer Coordinator will directly support the Nanaimo Community Action Team's vision of reducing drug toxicity harms. You'll be at the forefront of building relationships with those impacted by substance use, facilitating their voices in community dialogues, and engaging in impactful harm reduction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage and maintain relationships with vulnerable community members
• Identify emerging needs through outreach initiatives
• Promote stigma-free, peer-led approaches
• Contribute to Peer Advisory and Community Action Team meetings
• Assist in harm reduction supplies and public education efforts
Requirements:
• Lived experience related to substance use crises
• Background in peer support or community-focused roles
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and equity approaches
• Ability to navigate diverse team-oriented environments
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
