Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental Specialist/Project Manager t to join our Environmental Engineering Team in Newfoundland.
The successful candidate will possess a keen interest and have knowledge and experience associated with management of contaminated sites and associated technical reporting.
Typical responsibilities may include:
Assume full management responsibility and accountability for managing medium to large tasks or projects under the general direction of appropriate more senior-level technical professional; develops project strategy and scope; develops realistic budget and is accountable for them; provides review of project deliverables.
Manage and communicate results, budget and schedule information to the client and appropriate operations management.
Data analysis and technical reporting work for a variety of projects including phased environmental site assessments, site remediation projects and hazardous materials assessments
Responsible for the identification of new clients and/or developing additional work within an existing project or with an existing client.
Provide senior review of technical reports, analytical tables and figures prepared by junior staff
Motivate, train and mentor subordinate staff personnel assigned to his/her tasks or projects.
May be required to complete field programs, on a limited basis, including site reconnaissance, site inspections, hazardous materials assessments or phased environmental site assessments
Perform specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects.
Skills / Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Engineering or equivalent
10+ years of environmental site assessment and remediation experience
Extensive knowledge of contaminated sites management process
Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental guidelines
Extensive experience in technical reporting and project management
Previous hazardous material assessment experience
Strong workplace safety practices and training.
Competent in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and project management.
Ability to make correct interpretations of findings and to recognize and identify inconsistent or inappropriate results; knows how and when to apply standard practices and techniques to unusual situations; knows when to consult with more senior-level technical professionals regarding how to resolve a problem, respond to a question or take an action that is appropriate.
Significant knowledge of and/or experience with industry specific software (e.g., MSOffice, AutoCAD/GIS, Adobe, MSProject) required.
Valuable communication skills and interpersonal skills
Strong written and oral communication skills (English).
