School District 71 is seeking an Indigenous Support Worker for secondary education, offering 28.75 hours per week. Ideal candidates possess at least 30 post-secondary credits in Indigenous studies or a related program and have three years of experience working closely with Indigenous communities. This role focuses on building solid relationships to uplift Indigenous students and ensure culturally responsive support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide academic and personal guidance to Indigenous students
• Advocate and liaise with families and educational staff
• Organize and promote cultural events and traditions
• Develop and maintain supportive relationships with students
• Keep accurate records and monitor student progress
Requirements:
• Grade 12 education plus 30 credits in Indigenous studies
• Three years' experience working with Indigenous students
• Indigenous ancestry and cultural knowledge required
• Valid BC driver’s license and personal vehicle
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
