The Lower Nicola Indian Band is seeking a dedicated Nłeʔkepmx Language and Culture Teacher to enhance language learning opportunities. This position requires developing immersive lessons that engage students with Nłeʔkepmx knowledge, identity, and cultural traditions. Your work will not only teach the language but also foster relationships with elders and families, promoting community-wide language use.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare engaging Nłeʔkepmx language lessons
• Facilitate land and place-based learning experiences
• Collaborate with families and community members
• Ensure culturally protected learning environments
• Support language immersion programs within the school
Requirements:
• BC Teaching Certificate or Language Fluency Degree
• Experience in language instruction or cultural education
• Proven ability to implement cultural teaching methods
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
