Facilitate inclusive education as a Communication Support Worker at Coastland College, supporting a profoundly deaf student with British Sign Language. Your engagement will enhance the student’s social interaction and academic success.
This role is a fixed-term position, offering 18 hours per week during term time for one academic year. You will be essential in increasing the student’s access to educational resources, social activities, and work placements. Through effective BSL, you will promote independence and help build the communication skills important for future life.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide BSL communication support to the student
• Encourage social skills and interactions within college
• Work alongside teaching staff to support learning accessibility
• Aid the student’s confidence and independence in communication
• Support the overall personal development toward adulthood
Requirements:
• Hold a minimum BSL Level 3 qualification
• Experience in working with deaf learners or individuals needing communication support
• Solid commitment to inclusion in education
• Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and students
• Must pass an enhanced DBS check before employment
