Join IWK Health as an Equity Consultant focusing on Mi'kmaq health needs in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This full time role emphasizes culturally safe health service improvements for Indigenous populations.
The successful candidate will be a designated member of the Mi’kmaw group, tasked with providing leadership in advancing health equity and reconciliation initiatives. You will work closely with health leaders, fostering relationships that lead to enhanced health outcomes for Indigenous communities. Engaging with a variety of stakeholders is key to promoting collaboration and effective practice implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with health consultants and navigators for service improvements
• Conduct community engagement to understand health disparities
• Implement strategies that address anti-Indigenous racism
• Support initiatives that foster representation of Indigenous health staff
• Analyze policy and programs for effectiveness in health equity
Requirements:
• Degree in Allied Health, Public Administration, or related discipline
• A minimum of five years relevant experience, or advanced degree with three years
• Insights into Indigenous populations in the region
• Proven experience in community engagement and project oversight
• Current driver's license and willingness to travel as needed
