Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is looking for a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to provide essential care to patients with complex mental health needs. This role focuses on both functional and strength-based social skills through recovery-oriented programming.

As a Recreation Therapist in the Forensic Rehabilitation Unit, you will design and deliver therapeutic recreational programs that foster rehabilitation and recovery. Your collaborative efforts with an interdisciplinary team will ensure patients receive holistic care that meets their unique needs. Understanding the forensic population will support your approach in crafting suitable programs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs
• Conduct recreational assessments and interventions




• Educate patients on leisure and participation skills
• Work with teams to implement patient care plans
• Document and analyze patient progress consistently

Requirements:
• Degree/diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
• 2 years of relevant experience in a mental health setting
• Current membership with TRO preferred
• Solid communication and assessment skills
• Valid driver’s license and CPR Level HCP certification
