Join the educational landscape as a District Indigenous Education Counsellor for Grades K-12 in Cranbrook & Elk Valley. This full time continuing role focuses on culturally relevant counselling support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Indigenous-focused guidance across School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay), beginning September 8, 2026. Applicants must possess a Master's Degree recognized by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch and relevant teaching experience. Training in Indigenous practices is highly valued, with preference given to Indigenous ancestry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Counsel and support K-12 students' mental health
• Integrate Indigenous cultural practices into education
• Build partnerships with local communities
• Implement strategies for student success
• Participate in training and workshops
Requirements:
• A Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology
• BC Teacher Certification is an asset
• Teaching experience at K-12 level required
• Familiarity with Indigenous health and education
• Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills
