Become a Family Strengthening Worker with the Okanagan Indian Band and make a difference in your community. This role focuses on providing essential support and referral services for families facing challenges.
As a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, the Family Strengthening Worker will assist children, youth, and families experiencing emotional or behavioral issues. You will develop holistic family service plans and facilitate workshops to promote community wellness. Your role involves collaboration with external agencies, ensuring cultural competency, and supporting caregivers in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understand relevant legislation and the Okanagan Family Declaration • Assist families in navigating government services • Develop family service plans to meet parental needs • Consult with community agencies and schools • Maintain confidential client records
Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field • Two years of relevant experience in First Nations Communities • Current First Aid/CPR certification • Valid BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance
