Title: CWB Level 2 QC Welding Inspector – Shutdown / Turnaround (Nightshift)
Open Positions: 4 ( 3 in Edmonton Area & 1 in Fort MacMurray)
Project Scope: QC Welding Inspection for Shutdown / Turnaround (TA) Activities
Location: Edmonton Area
Start Date: August 24 to Sep 1, 2026
Duration: Approximately 4 to 6 weeks
Shift: Night Shift – 6 Days On / 1 Day Off
Hours of Work: 10–13 Hours per Day
Key Responsibilities
Perform quality control inspections for piping fabrication, installation, and repair activities during shutdown/turnaround operations.
Inspect welding operations in accordance with CSA W47.1, CSA W59 (as applicable), ASME Codes, project specifications, and approved WPS/WPQ.
Verify material traceability, heat numbers, MTRs, and compliance with piping specifications.
Review and interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs;, weld maps, and fabrication drawings.
Conduct fit-up inspections, dimensional checks, weld visual inspections, and final acceptance inspections.
Monitor piping activities including cutting, beveling, fit-up, welding, repair welding, PWHT coordination, and surface preparation.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project hold/witness points.
Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and track corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain accurate inspection records, daily reports, weld logs, and QC turnover documentation.
Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, NDT technicians, and client representatives to support inspection activities.
Verify NDT requirements, review NDT reports,
and confirm acceptance criteria per project specifications.
Support fast-paced shutdown schedules while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Promote and enforce site safety policies and safe work practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
CWB Level 2 Welding Inspector Certification – Mandatory
Shutdown / Turnaround piping inspection experience – Strongly preferred
Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping systems
Experience performing field piping inspections in operating plant environments
Strong understanding of QA/QC systems, ITPs, turnover documentation, and weld traceability
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, piping isometrics, weld maps, and fabrication drawings
Working knowledge of ASME B31 piping codes and industrial construction standards
Strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shutdown environment
