Lead VIA Rail's Indigenous Relations as a Senior Advisor in Toronto. This full-time position revolves around relationship management and strategic planning across Canada.
You will operate under the guidance of the Vice-President, Government Relations and Indigenous Affairs, leading efforts to cultivate relationships with approximately 80 Indigenous communities. Your work will align corporate objectives with community needs and contribute to the strategic vision for passenger rail services in the regions served.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and execute an Indigenous Relations strategy for VIA Rail
• Identify and act on community needs to strengthen relationships
• Advise senior management on community engagement tactics
• Observe community developments impacting VIA Rail’s mission
• Manage key communications to Indigenous partners and stakeholders
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related field
• Minimum 10 years in government relations, especially with Indigenous populations
• Knowledge of treaties and communities along VIA Rail’s corridors
• Fluency in English and French, Indigenous language advantageous
• Solid analytical skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks
