Position Overview
Our client is a fast-growing Canadian credit union preparing to undertake a significant transformation of its banking technology setting. Reporting to the CEO, the Core Banking Transformation Consultant will provide executive-level leadership for the implementation of a new banking ecosystem spanning core banking, lending and digital banking capabilities.
Working closely with the executive team, internal subject-matter experts, external implementation partners and technology vendors, this individual will establish the transformation roadmap, coordinate delivery across business and technology teams, and ensure the organization is operationally ready for implementation and launch.
The ideal candidate has played a leading role in a core banking conversion or a similarly complex financial services platform transformation and understands how to connect technology implementation to banking operations, customer experience, products, and organizational change.
This is an attractive opportunity to lead a highly visible, enterprise-wide transformation at a growing financial institution,
work directly with senior leadership and help establish a modern banking platform that will support future product innovation and digital growth.
Role Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership and accountability for the banking-platform transformation, from planning and design through implementation, launch and stabilization.
Develop and maintain the integrated transformation roadmap, including scope, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, risks and implementation readiness.
Serve as the primary connection between executive leadership, banking operations, internal subject-matter experts, technology vendors and external implementation partners.
Translate business and operational requirements into clear implementation priorities across core banking, lending and digital banking capabilities.
Lead operating-model and process redesign to ensure the organization is prepared to use the new platforms effectively.
Oversee key implementation activities, including requirements, configuration decisions, integrations, data migration, testing, training, change management and go-live readiness.
Identify and manage implementation risks while ensuring that operational, regulatory, control and member-service requirements are incorporated into the transformation.
Lead organizational change and stakeholder engagement to support adoption across employees, leadership and other affected groups.
Guide post-launch stabilization and ensure that the new environment is positioned to support future digital services and product launches.
Transfer knowledge and establish sustainable ownership of the platforms,
processes and vendor relationships following implementation.
Desired Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience within a bank, credit union, trust company or other deposit-taking financial institution.
Post-secondary education in Business, Finance or a related discipline.
Demonstrated leadership of a core banking conversion, digital banking implementation, lending-platform transformation or similarly complex financial-services technology program.
Strong understanding of banking operations, including lending, deposits, digital banking and customer servicing functions.
Experience coordinating business leaders, technology teams, vendors, consultants and subject-matter experts across a multi-stream implementation.
Practical knowledge of implementation governance, process redesign, systems integration, data migration, testing, operational readiness, change management, launch and stabilization.
Strong judgment and the ability to identify risks, resolve implementation issues and maintain momentum in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
