Our client, a growing organization in the manufacturing and defense sector, is seeking a Finance Manager for an existing vacancy within its growing Canadian operations.
The Finance Manager will oversee the financial accounting function for the Canadian business while acting as a key financial partner to the local leadership team. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, cash flow, financial controls and continuous improvement.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial reporting, including P&L;, balance sheet and supporting financial schedules
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions and Canadian operations
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
- Manage the financial components of the ERP system, including ledgers, chart of accounts, financial calendars, period/year-end rollovers and financial mappings
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts in conjunction with external accountants
- Present financial results during monthly business reviews and other management meetings as required
- Support annual and half-year financial audits
- Manage statutory tax compliance, including required filings and payments
- Liaise with the Finance team regarding shared services and Canadian financial requirements
- Manage accounts receivable/debtor positions and cash flow
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are resolved promptly
- Partner with the Canadian team to maintain effective financial management and controls
- Review financial processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Recommend and support the implementation of process improvements
- Identify opportunities to leverage ERP functionality and automation
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- CPA
- 5+ years of financial management experience within a small to medium-sized manufacturing environment
- Experience within the defense industry would be considered a robust asset
- Strong financial accounting, reporting and compliance knowledge
- Experience working with ERP systems, Microsoft Office and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both operational and senior leadership teams
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain Canadian security clearance, Secret Preferred

- Salary: $100,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience
