Protect guests by ensuring safety as an Avalanche Control Technician at Big White Ski Resort. Your role focuses on avalanche forecasting and hazard assessment in alpine environments.
In this full time seasonal role, you will closely monitor snowpack and weather conditions to conduct avalanche control. As part of the dedicated Ski Patrol and Mountain Operations teams, you will employ advanced techniques to mitigate avalanche risks. Your ability to work in challenging environments is essential for successful operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Regularly observe and collect data on snow and weather
• Execute snow stability tests and hazard evaluations
• Carry out approved avalanche control operations
• Issue daily avalanche forecasts to staff
• Support safe terrain opening after control work
Requirements:
• CAA ITP 1 certification required
• Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification
• Ability to work with explosives and valid PAL
• Proficiency in skiing/snowboarding in alpine terrain
• Past experience with snowpack assessment
