In this pivotal position, you will oversee the stewardship of ROM’s vast collection of over 10 million specimens, fostering its continued excellence in research, preservation, and public value. You will drive cutting-edge exhibitions and public programs that connect diverse audiences to the vital role of insects and arachnids within ecosystems. Collaborating across departments, your contributions will enhance interconnectivity between art, culture, and natural science.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct the growth and long-term vision for the Insects and Arachnids collection
• Publish original research in taxonomy and conservation disciplines
• Create interdisciplinary exhibitions and educational programs
• Foster relationships with external partners for community engagement
• Mentor students and staff in scientific endeavors
Requirements:
• PhD in a related field such as ecology or taxonomy
• Track record of research and publication success
• Minimum one year of postdoctoral experience in a relevant environment
• Knowledge of museum collections and public education methods
• Collaborative and effective communication skills
Contribute to the dynamic landscape of natural history at the Royal Ontario Museum through research and public engagement.
