Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) is seeking a Results Fellow to collect qualitative data (stories) from community members, interpret and present the data, and identify opportunities for improving the coordination, implementation, and impact of state programs. Alongside the MN StoryCollective team, the Results Fellow will coordinate across state agencies and levels of government to address policy or program changes.
Salary: $28.75 - $42.16 / hourly; $60,030 - $88,030 / annually. Position: Full-Time, Limited (temporary until 06/30/2027). Work Hours: Day, Monday - Friday. Telework Eligible: Yes. Designated in Connect 700 Program for Applicants with Disabilities: Yes.
This is a temporary position, expected to last from October through June and would be ideal for a student or recent graduate.
Job Duties For This Position Include Collecting, analyzing, and disseminating qualitative data to provide meaningful information to policymakers and provide solutions to address program or policy shortcomings
Participating in technical work groups comprised of state colleagues
Analyzing MN StoryCollective data in the context of relevant state programs to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, equity, access, and use of high-quality services
Developing story collections of MN StoryCollective data on emerging themes and topics
Preparing presentations and written products for internal and external distribution; present findings in briefings, webinars, and other settings attended by policymakers and researchers
Telework options for this position are dependent on where the employee lives. With approval, employees that live within 50 miles from the primary work location may telework up to 50%. Employees that live 50 miles or more from the primary location and live in Minnesota may telework more than 50% with approval.

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the last year) from a public policy, public administration, sociology, or data science graduate program (master’s degree or higher) OR three (3) years of experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data for a public program
Experience with data manipulation and analysis, including creation of queries and reports from databases (Stata, Python, R, or comparable software)




Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (or similar application) and familiarity of other Microsoft products
Communication skills sufficient to convey complex and/or sensitive information to a variety of audiences
Demonstrated respect for diversity and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a public policy, public administration, sociology, or data science graduate program
Experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data; knowledge of data collection best practices
Experience making evidence-based recommendations or changes to policies, laws, or public programs for continuous improvement
Experience in the public sector (state, federal, county, municipal, or Tribal government)
Knowledge of public sector policymaking processes
Experience preparing accessible, plain language presentations and written resources
Experience with PowerBI
