ABOUT LYON LIFTS
Founded in 2021, is a Canadian heavy equipment dealer specializing in aerial and earthmoving equipment. We source, buy, sell, export, and rent aerial lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, loaders, and other construction machinery for construction companies, rental businesses, contractors, and industrial clients across Canada and the United States.

We pride ourselves on our industry expertise and excellent customer service while keeping things down-to-earth. We’re professionals who know our craft, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. At Lyon Lifts, you’ll find a workplace where open communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and a good laugh go hand in hand.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is not a coordinator seat on a large team executing someone else's process. You will be responsible for the logistics process end to end, from carrier selection and rate negotiation through customs compliance and final delivery.

You will decide who moves our machines, what we pay, and how the process works. When something goes wrong at the border or a truck cancels on a Friday afternoon, you are the person who solves it.

Our current Logistics Manager is moving into a different role within the company and will provide a structured handover, so you are stepping into an established process with someone to learn from rather than figuring it out on your own.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Transportation and shipping:

Organize local, national, and international transportation of heavy equipment

Find, evaluate, and negotiate transportation rates and terms with carriers and freight brokers

Compare transportation quotes and select the most efficient and cost-effective option

Plan loading and delivery schedules

Verify machine dimensions, weight, configuration, plates, and transportation requirements

Track shipments from pickup through final delivery

Confirm load securement, transport method, and equipment suitability for each machine

Manage delays, damages,

cancellations, schedule changes, and other transportation issues

Import and export:

Coordinate imports and exports between Canada, the United States, Europe, and other international markets

Prepare and review customs documentation, and coordinate with customs brokers

Verify HTS codes, Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required documents

Coordinate AES/EEI, CBP, CBSA, RIV, and other applicable import and export procedures

Ensure machines meet the requirements of the destination country

Documentation and compliance:

Confirm every machine has complete documentation that accurately matches the machine being shipped

Review machine titles, purchase invoices, and ownership documents

Provide required documents to customs brokers, carriers, and customers

Organize and maintain transportation and customs records

Ensure machines and shipments meet applicable transportation and equipment regulations

Coordination:

Work closely with Sales, Rentals, Accounting, Operations, and Management

Confirm each machine is paid, ready to ship, and document-ready before transportation is booked

Coordinate machine availability and shipping dates

Communicate timelines, delays, and potential issues to the team members, customers, and suppliers

Set shipping priorities based on customer requirements and company needs

Cost management:

Monitor and control logistics costs across carriers and routes

Review and track transportation invoices

Identify opportunities to reduce transportation expenses

Prevent avoidable charges such as detention, storage, re-delivery, and demurrage

Process and continuous improvement:

Monitor logistics KPIs including transportation costs, delivery times, shipment volume, delays, and transportation issues

Build and maintain solid relationships with reliable carriers and freight brokers

Improve internal logistics processes and create procedures that reduce error

Anticipate logistics issues and address them before they become critical

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required:

Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics. This one is non-negotiable.

Comfortable preparing and reviewing shipping and customs documentation

Good written and spoken English and French

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Preferred/Bonus:

Hands-on experience arranging freight with carriers and freight brokers

Experience transporting heavy equipment or machinery

Cross-border Canada and US freight experience

International or ocean freight experience

Customs classification experience such as HTS codes and Certificates of Origin

YOU'LL DO WELL IN THIS ROLE IF

You stay calm when things go wrong. Trucks cancel, machines get damaged, loads sit at the border. You stay professional and keep solving.

You see problems coming. The best shipments are the ones where nothing goes wrong because you caught it a week earlier.

You can hold a lot at once. We move around 600 machines a year (and growing). At any given moment you'll have a dozen shipments at different stages, and you need to know which one needs you right away and which one can wait.

You’re precise with paperwork. A wrong HTS code or a missing Certificate of Origin can stop a machine at the border. Details matter here in a way they don’t in most jobs.

You’re comfortable negotiating. You can push a carrier on rate and still have a good relationship with them next month.

You’re independent and accountable. You take ownership of a shipment and follow it through to final delivery without being chased.

You communicate clearly. Sales, Accounting, customers, carriers, and brokers all need different things from you. You give each of them what they actually need without making them ask twice.

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All applications must be submitted by August 20 at 11:59 pm. Interviews will be scheduled for August 25. Please be prepared to provide 2 or more professional references.
