Step into a leadership role as Manager of Policy within GNWT's Department of Education, Culture and Employment. This strategic position focuses on policy development and advice in a diverse environment.
As the Manager of Policy, you will oversee key functions within the Policy, Legislation and Communications Division while collaborating with senior management and the Minister. This term position involves leading a team and ensuring the effective development and coordination of policy initiatives. With your experience in policy, you'll engage in negotiations and provide guidance that shapes departmental directives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and coordinate policy functions within the department
• Advise the Minister on key initiatives and strategy
• Lead and mentor a team of Senior Policy Advisors
• Prepare clear, concise policy materials and submissions
• Negotiate and communicate with various stakeholders effectively
Requirements:
• An undergraduate plus graduate law or social sciences degree
• Minimum 5 years of progressive policy experience
• At least 2 years in Aboriginal rights or intergovernmental relations
• Demonstrated supervisory leadership for one year
• Robust communication, analytic and problem-solving skills
