Shape the future of education by stepping into the Principal role at Chief Zzeh Gittlit School, Old Crow, Yukon. Empower Indigenous learners through culturally responsive teaching and community engagement.
This unique position starts on August 20, 2026, and ends June 16, 2027. You will lead a small, committed team in providing a nurturing, inclusive learning environment for approximately 50 students, mostly from the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. Your leadership will emphasize authentic relationships and collaboration, fostering student growth via land-based and academic curricula.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead instructional practices and support staff development
• Assess and address student social and emotional needs
• Promote community involvement in school activities
• Plan and execute land-based learning experiences
• Create and enhance Student Learning Plans and Behaviour Plans
Requirements:
• Enrollment or possession of a master’s degree in education
• Experience in leadership roles in educational settings
• Knowledge of Indigenous learner support strategies
• Robust planning and organizational abilities
• Commitment to inclusive education philosophies
