Shape community awareness as a Counsellor and Public Educator with Durham Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC). This position involves delivering educational programs and providing counselling services in the Durham Region.
As a key advocate for survivors of sexual violence, you will facilitate public education workshops and offer trauma-informed counselling in post-secondary institutions. This dual-role is aimed at promoting safety, consent, and healthy relationships among students while ensuring ongoing support for survivors. You'll contribute to strategic collaborations and continuously assess educational effectiveness within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement outreach and prevention education workshops
• Foster partnerships with educational institutions and stakeholders
• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for survivors
• Manage client case files in accordance with policies
• Participate in community events and awareness campaigns
Requirements:
• At least 5 years in nonprofit or advocacy roles
• Proven experience in sexual violence prevention
• Solid organizational and advocacy skills
• Committed to anti-oppressive practices
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary
