Step into a vital role providing crisis support as a Shelter Counsellor for FearIsNotLove. This as-needed union relief position involves engaging clients in their journey towards safety and well-being.
In this role, you will provide day-to-day support to shelter clients while ensuring their safety and emotional well-being. Your responsibilities include case planning, safety assessments, and fostering client relationships, all aimed at creating a violence-free future. Availability for at least three overnight shifts per year is essential, aligning with our mission to offer dedicated support to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a caseload focusing on client support
• Provide practical and emotional support during crises
• Document case notes and ensure compliance with standards
• Complete risk assessments to facilitate safety planning
• Engage clients through our crisis line
Requirements:
• Diploma in Human Services or equivalent required
• Minimum of 2 years working with individuals in crisis
• Familiarity with response-based practices is a plus
• Current First Aid and ASIST training required
• Must meet accreditation and documentation standards
