Join Vancouver Island Health as a Recovery Support Worker, focusing on non-medical services for clients overcoming addiction. This casual role prioritizes patient and staff safety while facilitating recovery.
In this position, you'll engage directly with clients in a detox environment, managing withdrawal care and contributing to their recovery journey. You will perform assessments, advise on referrals, and lead educational sessions while acting as a role model for healthy behaviors. Strong communication and organizational skills are key as you interact with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct assessments and manage client admissions
• Facilitate group support sessions for recovery
• Observe client behavior and health status changes
• Handle bed bookings and referral processes
• Ensure effective communication throughout discharge planning
Requirements:
• Certification in addiction counseling or equivalent education
• Minimum of two years relevant experience
• First Aid, CPR, and Food Protected certifications
• NVCI Certificate within the first three months
• Ability to drive, as needed
