Join the University of Saskatchewan as a Research Technician in Plant Breeding and participate in the development of new wheat varieties. The role involves hands-on work with nursery maintenance and sample organization.
In this term position, you will support the breeding program through various activities such as establishing nurseries and operating small plot equipment. A reliable background in data collection and equipment operation is crucial. This role requires commitment to working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as well as lifting up to 25 kg. A valid class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish breeding and yield nurseries
• Operate small plot equipment for research projects
• Collect and manage data effectively
• Organize harvested samples for analysis
• Report to a senior technician in the program
Requirements:
• Degree or diploma in agriculture preferred
• Practical experience in field research environments
• Familiarity with MS-Excel® and MS-Word®
• Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions
• Excellent communication skills in English
