The Service Technician II is accountable for repairs and maintenance of the industrial batteries and chargers in-house or on customer site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the delivery of effective and efficient day-to-day service to customers by:
Conducting pre-delivery inspections and installations of battery monitoring devices, blinky lights and accessories
Installing and programming communication modules
Programming chargers and all secondary devices
Completing battery and charger installations
Completing battery and charger inspections
Diagnosing and repairing batteries and chargers – both within and outside of warranty periods
Removing and disassembling cells and inspecting parts to detect defects.
Completing cell teardowns and applicable reports
Carrying out data downloads and water sample testing
Installing, inspecting, repairing and testing watering systems
Changing de-ionizer filters
Conducting load tests and completing acid balancing and constant current charging
Preparing used batteries for transportation
Assist with supporting and administering the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program and Battery Maintenance Program (BMP) by:
Completing battery (BMP) and charger (CMP) inspections, maintenance and reports
Washing, cleaning and painting batteries
Watering batteries as required, ensuring specified concentration
Inspecting and reporting on battery cables, connectors and battery devices
Reporting findings of inspections visits to the Service Desk
Maintain constant communication and solid customer service relationships with customers, customer service representative, and sales representatives by:
Developing and building relationships with established customers; developing role as a trusted advisor
Responding to customer service issues, trouble shoots over the phone to isolate problem
Maintaining daily log of activity,
client visits, billable time, service records and inspection reports
Reports on stock levels for parts, tools and equipment
Promotes related accessories and service agreements
Provides regular updates to the area Sales Representative
Actively participates in the development of service programs in designated territory
Contribute to a safe and efficient work setting at all times by:
Actively participating in good house-keeping and a maintaining a well-organized workplace
Ensuring equipment is in good operating condition by performing daily pre-shift inspections of forklift and other equipment; completing inspection reports and submitting to designated Supervisor / Manager
Complying with all Company and provincial legislation including Health & Safety regulations (safety equipment, forklift operation, TDG, WHMIS, Workers Compensation, Labour Board)
Identifying and reporting any potential health and safety issues / hazards; escalating
