Labour Crew Job FAQs
What does my work week look like?

Your Foreman will contact you the day/evening before to give you the location of your next day’s project. Some weeks, you will work on the same site for days at a time, and other weeks, you may go from site to site. There is a lot of variety each week.

How long is each project?

It depends. Commercial projects may take up to at least one full week. Residential projects usually take 2 to 3 days to install.

Can I ask for time off?

Yes, however, because this is a seasonal position, time off is limited. Most importantly, you must book your time off at least one week in advance.

How long do people normally stay in the training role?

As long as necessary, but training usually takes 2-12 weeks, depending on your prior experience and willingness to learn.

If I don’t want to stay in Labour Crew, what other roles are available to me?

Depending on our need and your drive, opportunities to be Installation Foreman and subsequently, Service Technician or Sales Representative are available.

Can I earn more than the advertised wage?

Yes. Because of the nature of our busy season which is March to September, we often require labour crew to work longer hours and weekends. This is paid as overtime wages.

Does the position require travel outside the local area?

University Sprinklers has customers all over the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Therefore, in most cases this position requires you to travel to job sites across this area. That said, we make every effort to either position you with a Foreman close to your area, or on job sites close to your area, in order to minimize your travel time to and from work.

What support does University Sprinklers have to make me successful?

We have the tools and equipment, either in your vehicle, or at the company headquarters in Delta, to complete any repairs or additions you are scheduled to perform.

We have a strong training program and mentorship program that will guide you from your first day.

We have supportive office staff to help with back-end compliance and paperwork.

We have dedicated, experienced staff who are available 24-7 to advise you about any company-related inquiries or issues.

Will I be driving a company vehicle?

No, you will not be required to drive a company vehicle.

Is travel time paid for?

Travel between job sites within your workday is paid. Time spent from home to the first site and from last site to home is not paid.

What is the season?

Our typical season runs mid January to mid December, and in some cases year round for staff that wish to work full time, but that we can also fully accommodate shortened seasons for post-secondary education, travel, etc.

What do I need to supply?

Bring common sense, a good attitude, and a desire to learn. You must be willing to work hard. You must be able to learn quickly. You must have a desire to do things properly. You must be punctual.

It is common for people working at the correct pace to sweat, and be dirty by the end of the day!

And you need steel-toe boots.
