Job classification : SA004 - Educational Counsellor I
Salary Range: $88,590 - $117,264 annually (based on a full time equivalent). This is a 0.8 FTE position (29 hours per week), and compensation will be prorated based on the position's reduced schedule. Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.
Paid leave: 43 days vacation per year (based on a full-time equivalent). This is a 0.8 FTE position (29 hours per week), and vacation entitlement will be prorated based on the position's reduced schedule.

Reporting to the Manager, Student Development and Counselling, the Educational Counsellor I plays a key role in supporting student wellbeing and success through a comprehensive range of counselling and mental health services. This is a 0.8FTE , on-campus position and a member of the SAIT Academic Faculty Association (SAFA).
As part of SAIT's Student Development and Counselling (SDC) , you will provide personal counselling, crisis intervention, psychoeducational workshops, mental health training, and consultation services for members of the SAIT community. You will also facilitate professional development sessions and contribute to campus-wide wellness initiatives through outreach, education, and collaboration across the institution.
In the event of a campus critical incident, you will provide critical incident debriefings to affected individuals and ensure appropriate follow-up support, referrals, and care as needed.
This is a temporary position created to assess and support the counselling needs of the Taylor Family Campus Centre (TFCC) , which is scheduled to open in August 2027 . The term of this role may be extended based on the evolving needs of TFCC and available budget funding.
Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
