Athena Clinical Wellness and Beauty
Canada
Athena Clinical Wellness & Beauty is developing a nurse-led regional foot-health service based in Hanover, Ontario. We are seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced clinical care and help shape a growing regional service.
Temporary furnished housing is available for up to 12 weeks to support a successful candidate relocating to the Hanover area.
OPTIONAL VIRTUAL TRANSITION BEFORE RELOCATION
A successful candidate who needs time to relocate may begin through paid part-time virtual employment before transitioning to the permanent full-time onsite position in Hanover. During this transition, the NP may support clinically appropriate virtual consultations, complex-case review, care-plan development, staff education, clinical pathways and program implementation. Virtual care will not replace an in-person examination when one is clinically required. Transition hours and the full-time onsite start date will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This position combines direct patient care with protected time for clinical leadership and program development. The NP will work with RNs, RPNs, Clinical Foot-Care Assistants and management to create secure, practical pathways for assessment, testing, treatment, follow-up and escalation.
The NP will be based at the Hanover clinic and provide advanced clinical support for clients served through all five clinic locations. Routine travel between clinics is not required. As patient demand and the clinic network grow, the role may expand into broader regional clinical leadership, with opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation.
The service initially focuses on foot, nail, skin and related lower-limb concerns. It is not a traditional comprehensive family-practice position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct focused and comprehensive assessments for complex foot, nail, skin and lower-limb presentations.
- Diagnose and treat conditions within the NP’s legislated scope and individual competence.
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests, including testing for suspected fungal infections when clinically indicated.
- Prescribe and monitor medications and other treatments.
- Assess suspected infections, warts, ingrown or inflamed nails, pain, swelling and complications affecting foot care.
- Recognize wounds, ulcers, ischemia and other urgent findings and establish appropriate escalation or referral pathways. Wound treatment is not part of the clinic’s initial service launch.
- Develop evidence-informed treatment, monitoring and follow-up plans.
- Review complex cases referred by the nursing team.
- Establish systems for test-result tracking, patient recall and communication of clinically significant results.
- Help develop intake criteria, clinical pathways, documentation templates, consultation procedures and quality-assurance processes.
- Support appropriate infection prevention and control, consent, privacy and clinical-photography practices.
- Provide patient education about treatment choices, realistic expectations, recurrence risks and preventive care.
- Collaborate with external physicians, laboratories and other health services when clinically necessary.
OUR MODEL
Clients are screened before care. Nurses assess clients, establish nursing care plans and determine the appropriate care pathway.
Specially trained Clinical Foot-Care Assistants provide approved nail and foot-care services within defined care plans. Complex presentations are escalated to the NP.
Regulated nurses remain independently accountable for their own practice. The NP’s leadership role focuses on advanced clinical care, consultation, safe pathways and quality improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class.
- Demonstrated competence in advanced assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic management and prescribing.
- Current professional liability protection appropriate for the role.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Satisfactory vulnerable-sector screening.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication and documentation skills.
- Interest in helping develop an accessible, evidence-informed rural health service.
POSITION DETAILS
- Permanent full-time employee position following the optional transition period: 30–40 hours per week.
- Optional paid part-time virtual start before relocation.
- Compensation: $60–$70 per hour, based on experience.
- Formal compensation review after six months and annually thereafter, with opportunities for increased compensation and expanded leadership responsibilities as the service grows.
- Full-time in-person clinical position based at 328 10th Street, Hanover, Ontario.
- Routine travel between clinic locations is not required.
- Predictable scheduling and paid clinical/program-development time.
- Temporary furnished housing available for up to 12 weeks for a successful candidate relocating to the Hanover area.
