The City of Edmonton is seeking a agile Sustainable Procurement Lead to champion innovative solutions and drive positive change. In this role, you will be a key player in shaping the implementation of the City’s sustainable procurement policy and practices, collaborating with diverse Community Partners to minimize environmental impact and maximize social benefit. As a strategic thinker and change agent, you will develop and implement actionable plans, policies, and frameworks, ensuring alignment with the City’s broader sustainability goals. You will also provide expert guidance and training to City staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.What will you do?
Develop and recommend strategic direction and tactical plans for the implementation of the City’s Sustainable Procurement Policy C556C, ensuring integration with organizational goals and prioritiesEnhance the City’s policy implementation through identification, execution and operationalization of recommended activities which meet strategic objectives to leverage City purchases to achieve positive Indigenous, social and environmental benefits for the communityCreate action plans with clear deliverables for short and long-termSuccessfully implement plans, metrics, and reporting mechanisms, following direction from CPSS Branch Leadership team and City CouncilExercise influence to ensure suppliers, community and industry organizations, and the City’s internal Community Partners understand the purpose and principles of the Sustainable Procurement programDevelop and implement tools, guidelines and processes related to Social Procurement, Indigenous Procurement, Environmental Sustainability;
and Ethical StandardsLead the design, implementation,
and continuous improvement of sustainable processes within CPSS and lead initiatives on behalf of CPSSDevelop and implement procedures within different business units and the CPSS branch to ensure compliance to policy and related reporting requirementsLead the development of supplier engagement activities including annual events and webinars explaining the procurement processOther procurement responsibilitiesQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Finance or a related DisciplineA minimum of five (5) years, progressively responsible experience in a combination of: strategic and operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures and budgets;
business case developmentLived experience, knowledge, training and/or education related to First Nation, Metis, and Inuit communitiesPrevious experience building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous partners and communitiesExperience engaging with diverse interest holdersSupply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation, Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) and/or other relevant professional designationsExperience in a diversified procurement, contract management and/or supply chain management environmentExperience supporting and leading sustainability projects/portfolios in a procurement contextExperience working with ERP systems such as SAP AribaAdditional training in sustainability;

financial management;
public administration;
government relations;
project management;
and/or change managementSkills required for success:
