Job Summary

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer in the engineering consulting industry in Burlington, Ontario. The role is a contract position for a 6‑month engagement.

Compensation and Benefits

Total rewards: $50.00 - $60.00 hourly. Preferred rates for benefit coverage available.

Typical Day

- Work directly with clients/owners to develop project needs from initial concepts through implementation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections during construction and communicate with contractors regarding conformance to designs or added/amended scope.
- Provide complete systems integration/commissioning.
- Prepare P&ID; and flow sheet diagrams, schematics, and balances for HVAC, water, steam, condensate, hydronic, compressed air, and other building services systems.
- Prepare cost estimates for engineering work and capital expenditures.
- Organize, plan, schedule, and budget engineering, drafting, and design work.
- Lead the design of systems by providing input for layouts, including equipment, systems, instruments, and controls.

Responsibilities





- Specify and select equipment and systems for purchase.
- Design and develop building utilities such as steam, condensate, cold and hot water, chilled water, cooling tower systems, and associated piping distribution networks.
- Design and select pumps, fire suppression systems, storm and sanitary piping, compressed air, and other specialty process piping network designs.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as structural and electrical in the execution of the design work.
- Ensure compliance with governing codes and regulations pertaining to required systems.

Qualifications

- 5 to 10 years of related experience in Industrial, Building, and Public Infrastructure HVAC.
- Engineering or applied science degree.
- Registration as a Skilled Engineer (PEO) in Ontario.
- Proficiency in heating and cooling software such as Carrier HAP.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently to client sites.
