We are looking for someone to lead and supervise a dynamic team of professionals at the coordinator and lead level, as well as coordinate with our other assets in BC and Alberta. This role is based in Sparwood, but will spend time at our coal mining operations in the area.To be successful, we require a person who is self-motivated and enjoys working in a team environment with all levels of an organization. This person has strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills and is dedicated to continuous improvement. come experience what work life balance is all about!Advantages:Two Annual Bonus PlansComprehensive Benefits PlanRetirement PackageHealth Lifestyle AccountRelocation AssistanceIn this role you will:Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policiesOversee the preparation and delivery of applications, and regulatory review and engagement processes for between 30-60 non-major permits each year to support ongoing site operations and perming related compliance itemsMentor a team of at least four coordinators or leads based at site in resolving permitting needs, tracking permitting progress, preparing applications, and acquiring regulatory approvalsSupport in the weekly update of the Application Summary Table (AST) and review monthly with regulators and local Indigenous NationsInteract with regulators, local Indigenous Nations, and with mine personnel across all levels and multiple departments to advise and resolve issuesConduct an annual forecast of operational permitting needs and timelines, and track progress against submitted applicationsProvide educational sessions to mine sites regarding permitting processesSupport in maintenance of the Permitting Guide, including input into annual updatesRequirements:Science or Engineering degree or diploma in an environmental related field, with post-graduate education an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be consideredMinimum 10 years demonstrated ability in regulatory approvals and project management in the natural resource sector,
preferably in miningOutstanding skills in leading a team and ability to successfully connect with senior managementSolid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation and regulations, especially within B.C.Understanding of the B.C. Mines Act and experience in preparing Mines Act permit applications is considered an assetAbility to provide critical review of regulatory submissionsExperience working with Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other partnersExcellent planning and organizational proficienciesStrong oral and written communication skills in both formal and informal settingsExperience at an operating mine site (preferably within BC and in the coal or mining industry)Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent$140,000 - $173,000 a yearThe actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.To all applicants, your interest and effort are sincerely appreciated.
