Key Responsibilities
- Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project, working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Stay current with relevant regulations and ensure project activities align with cultural standards.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential cultural impacts and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Support the preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
- Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
- Coordinate cultural environmental field studies.
- Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies.
- Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.
Qualifications
- A degree in Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Planning, History, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Government Relations, Environment, Anthropology or Archaeology experience highly desired.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
- Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills and high attention to detail to provide high-quality deliverables.
- Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects to meet project deadlines.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal, and willingness to be client-facing in order to grow our planning and permitting services.
- High level of initiative, problem-solving, and adaptability.
- Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding and consideration for safety.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience seeing major projects from planning through construction.
- Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and collaborating with representatives and community members.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Indigenous groups to identify opportunities for Indigenous partnerships.
- Financial literacy and understanding of managing budgets and schedules.
- The ability to inspire, mentor, motivate, and build respect among colleagues, fostering a cohesive work environment.
Salary range: $66,300.00 - $96,800.00
