12-month contract Data Engineer role with a large public sector organization, working at the centre of digital transformation and delivering modern cloud data solutions across government.Modern Azure-first stack with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, and AI-enabled data integration practices.Initial 12-month contract with potential to extendRemote anywhere in CanadaWhat & Why:Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms in support of enterprise business use cases. This is a dual-track role combining strong data engineering practice with hands-on analytics capability, and you will work across two to three concurrent projects embedded in agile, multidisciplinary teams alongside architects, developers, and business stakeholders. On the engineering side you will be building and optimizing pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, dimensional models, and data governance frameworks using Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and related tools. On the analytics side you will be developing Power BI dashboards, building predictive models using Python and R, and translating complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences. This is a genuinely broad data role for someone who thrives on variety and wants their work to have real public impact.Who:Our client is a large public sector organization with a mandate to modernise and digitise government services. The team is actively investing in AI-enabled data integration, CI/CD automation, and self-service analytics, making it a genuinely forward-looking environment for data professionals.You:You will bring the following experience and capabilities:5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer and/or Data Analyst5+ years of experience in Python (including PySpark) and SQL for developing and optimizing enterprise-grade ETL/ELT workflows in large-scale cloud environments4+ years of experience designing and implementing data pipelines from multiple sources into data warehouses4+ years of experience with enterprise data warehouse or Lakehouse design using Star/Snowflake schemas and fact/dimension modeling4+ years of experience building executive dashboards, KPI reporting, and self-service BI solutions4+ years of experience with cloud modernization or hybrid/cloud data platform implementations2+ years of experience planning, executing, and validating data migrations across on-premises, cloud, and cross-database environmentsNice to Have:Experience with contemporary data technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Spark, and Delta LakeExperience in DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code for cloud-based data platform deployment and managementExperience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and data engineering workflowsExperience supporting enterprise-scale applications in public sector or mixed delivery environmentsCompensation:This role pays between $100-115 per hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr
