The future of cybersecurity starts with you.About the Role:As a Frontend Engineer III on our Design System team, you'll focus on building web components for our Design System and metadata-driven UI objects that power CrowdStrike's next-generation security platform. Our design system serves multiple engineering teams across the organization, powering critical security products that protect millions of users worldwide.In this role, you'll report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with other frontend engineers, UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and portability across our platform. You'll be a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving design system excellence while mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.If you are passionate about building complex, data-driven user interfaces at enterprise scale with a focus on accessibility, developer experience, and design consistency, this role is perfect for you.What You'll DoDesign System DevelopmentDesign, build, and scale our design system by developing production-grade web components based on Figma specifications using the Lit framework, ensuring they meet enterprise-scale requirementsAchieve and maintain near 100% test coverage using Playwright and up-to-date testing frameworks, ensuring robust, bug-free componentsBake in accessibility (a11y), comprehensive theming (including Dark/Light/High-Contrast modes), and localization/internationalization (i18n) from the ground upOptimize component performance and bundle size for production environmentsMaintain and extend design tokens (CSS variables) to ensure coded components remain in sync with Figma design specificationsTechnical Leadership & CollaborationConduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to team membersDrive technical decision-making for component architecture and implementation patternsServe as a subject matter expert for engineering teams integrating with the design systemCollaborate with UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure components meet our design and engineering standardsMonitor integration support channels and provide timely technical assistanceDocumentation & Developer ExperienceCreate and maintain comprehensive component documentation, including usage guidelines, API specifications,



and integration examplesProactively gather feedback from consuming teams and iterate on components to improve developer experienceDocument patterns and best practices to enhance the overall developer experienceProvide short demos showcasing your work and new component capabilitiesProcess & DeliveryImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and quality assuranceParticipate in scrum ceremonies, team planning sessions, and roadmap reviews to ensure team alignment on short and long-term goalsSupport multiple initiatives by providing essential UI components and UX patternsMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on design system best practicesWhat You'll NeedExperience & Education5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience2+ years of experience building or contributing to design systems at scaleBachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experienceTechnical ExpertiseExpert knowledge of modern web standards and frontend engineering tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web Components, TypeScript, Node/NPM)Hands-on experience building user-centric and scalable UI frameworks and design systemsExperience with REST APIs and GraphQLStrong understanding of responsive design principles and implementationExperience with Playwright or similar modern testing frameworksHands-on experience with design tokens and CSS-in-JS solutionsWorking knowledge of Figma or similar design toolsProven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.Accessibility & InternationalizationDeep experience with Accessibility (a11y) best practices, tools, and techniques including:Keyboard navigation compatibilityScreen reader supportWCAG 2.2 AA complianceProven experience with localization and internationalization (i18n) implementationQuality & DevOpsTrack record of achieving and maintaining high test coverage standardsKnowledge of CI/CD best practices and tools for improving and maintaining performance and code qualityExperience with monorepo architectures and tooling (Nx, Turborepo, or similar)Design System GovernanceExperience with design system governance, including establishing and enforcing component standards and patternsTrack record of shipping production-grade design systems used by multiple teamsExperience with Storybook or similar component documentation toolsSoft Skills & CollaborationProven ability to collaborate with UX architects, product designers, and engineering teams across multiple time zonesStrong facilitation skills for design and technical discussionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesComfortable presenting demos and technical documentation to a broad range of stakeholdersAdvocate for UX consistency, accessibility, and empathy for the end userPreferred QualificationsExperience with frontend frameworks such as React/Next.Js, Vue, or EmberExperience with AgGrid or similar data grid librariesExperience building UIs for data-intensive security or cybersecurity productsUnderstanding of security best practices in frontend developmentExperience working with globally distributed teamsContributions to open-source design systems or component librariesExperience with design system migration projectsComfortable leveraging AI tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.)
