Gather, process, analyze and visualize data to support daily and enterprise business journalism.
Collaborate with reporters, editors and visual journalists on data-driven stories and projects.
Spot check data work done by other team members and journalists in the newsroom.
Build and maintain tools that aid the work of reporters and editors in data reporting.
Act as an ambassador for data literacy in journalism across the newsroom.

Requirements

- Experience working on data-driven stories and projects in a newsroom, particularly with a business focus.
- Experience with acquiring and maintaining datasets of varying sizes.
- Experience with data analysis tools like Excel or Google Sheets and coding languages like Python or R.
- Experience visualizing data with a demonstrated understanding of best practices for graphic presentation of information in journalism.
- An ability to juggle multiple projects of varying deadlines and sizes.
- Additional qualifications that would be an asset in this role:
- Experience working with the Datawrapper API.
- Experience with database management best practices and relevant AWS services.




- Knowledgeable about available business-related datasets.
- Familiarity with data visualization libraries.
