General Accountability

The Radiation Therapist I is responsible for preparing, planning and delivering accurate and precise ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients according to the prescription of a Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Provincial Leader or Site Manager of Radiation Therapy with daily work functions supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.

Qualifications

- Education:




- Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
- Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C

- Memberships:

- Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)

- Experience:

- No previous experience

- Skills:

- Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
- Ability to perform a range of Radiation Therapy methods and processes including treatment planning, simulation and treatment.
- Moderate judgment and problem solving skills to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives.
- Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Human relations skills to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
- Accuracy of fine motor movement.
