The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.About The RoleSchedule:5x2 (Monday-Friday) or 4x3 (Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri)Position Reports To:Technical Services SuperintendentPosition OverviewThe Senior Mine Engineer provides technical oversight, supervision, and structured mentoring of the Technical Services planning team, typically encompassing production planning, development planning, ventilation, survey, and drill & blast. The role supports Mine Operations through planning, scheduling, and resolution of technical issues, while setting priorities and collaborating with other technical and operations stakeholders to develop optimized life-of-mine plans, budgets, and forecasts aligned with safe, efficient production in a block caving environment.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for oversight and optimization of mid-term and short-term plans for mine production, development and construction, and ventilation planningDevelop and optimize detailed underground mine designs, including production levels, access ramps,



and infrastructureEstablish monthly priorities for the mine planning team and ensure deliverables meet timeline and quality requirementsCreation of budget and forecast mine physicals for delivery to the processing and finance teamsCave Management & MonitoringResponsible for oversight of year-end production model updates, reserve production model runs, and delivery of annual reserves update and reportResponsible for oversight of ongoing model and grade reconciliation work, coordination with Operations and other technical groups to ensure the plan is executedWork closely with the geotechnical team to assess cave propagation, seismic and instrumentation activity, and fragmentationManage the draw control strategy, incorporating technical and operational constraints into daily and weekly draw instructions for the operations teamTechnical Leadership & MentoringProvide guidance and technical mentorship to Engineers in Training (EITs) and technicians, supporting progression towards professional registrationReview and approve engineering designs, layouts, and cost estimatesLead continuous improvement projectsSupervision, mentorship, and performance management of:Short range planners (EITs/GITs) and ventilation EITs/techniciansMine planning & production engineersSurveyorsSafety & ComplianceEnsure all designs and engineering activities comply with all applicable mining codes and regulations, management plans, and EGBC requirementsIncorporate "Safety by Design" principles into all layouts and plansMaintain regular underground field presence to validate conditions, confirm plan practicality, and strengthen plan-to-execution feedbackParticipate in risk assessments for complex mining activities associated with block cavingActively participate in the Critical Risk Management program, coach team members through effective Critical Control VerificationsReportingOversee regular reporting on progress of mining and technical KPIs, analyze variances to identify and action risks and opportunities for improvementProvide clear and concise technical summaries for site management,



translating complex technical information into decision-relevant insightsSupport formal reporting requirements by contributing to:Monthly and quarterly planning reportsBudget and forecast reviewsLife-of-mine planning updates and scenario evaluationsQualificationsPresent a united front to the organization and lead in an aligned mannerRole model our values and culture and do so with care and compassionActively listen, engage, and demonstrate the utmost respect, and integrity and work with others in an inclusive wayFoster diverse perspectives to actively identify new ways of working, have the courage to try new things, learn from mistakes and drive innovationProvide coaching and timely feedback to grow their team, expand their capabilities and foster growthRecognize and celebrate success and encourage a winning attitude across the organizationIn Addition, The Successful Candidate Will PossessBachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related geoscience field7+ years' experience in Mine Engineering with exposure to block caving or sub-level caving operationsEligible for professional registration with EGBCGood understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for Mines in British Columbia.Advanced skills in mine planning software. Experience in Deswik suite (Ops, Sched, ORB), PCBC and Surpac as asset.Deep understanding of mine design, rock mechanics, mine ventilation, haulage and materials handling systemsStrong field safety record and ability to work in an underground environmentEffective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and an aptitude for team leadershipDemonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage prioritiesStrong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilitiesOther RequirementsSuccessful completion of pre-placement functional screenProvide proof of a valid Class 5 driver's licenseDemonstrate eligibility to work in CanadaProvide confirmation of valid educational requirementsCompensationThe anticipated salary for this position will be between $124,000 to $140,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided.
