Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist with the processing and organization of archival collections
- Support ongoing digitization projects to improve accessibility of collections
- Use scanners, cameras, and digitization equipment to create digital records
- Assist with collection documentation and database management
- Follow archival procedures and best practices
- Participate in training related to archival work and project-specific computer skills
- Complete project-related tasks as needed

Key Qualifications

- Must meet the eligibility requirements for the Young Canada Works (YCW) Building Careers in Heritage Program and be registered with YCW
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in history, public history, archival studies, information sciences, museum studies, or a related program
- Master's degree or post-graduate education is an asset
- Keen interest in local history, public history, and the history of Indigenous and minority groups
- Highly organized and motivated
- Able to work independently while maintaining consistent standards
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Experience with database management programs is an asset
- Experience with scanners, cameras,



digitization processes, and photographic applications is an asset
- Experience working or volunteering in an archives, library, or museum is an asset

Contract Details

This is a grant-funded position through the Young Canada Works (YCW) Building Careers in Heritage Program, lasting through February 2027. Applicants must meet the program eligibility requirements and be registered with YCW. This is a contract position working 30 hours per week for 720 hours, from September 8, 2026 to February 23, 2027. The rate of pay is $22.50 per hour, with eligibility for enrolment in the OMERS Pension Plan.
